The goal of our Million to Missions campaign is to impact the world. It's amazing how much this work has impacted us!
What started in January with 30 men traveling to Guatemala to construct a church and parsonage for a pastor in Pacux, turned into over 500 Highview members embracing the vision of The Great Commission. They took time away from work, and invested their own money to travel the globe in 2008 on short-term mission trips.
We shared the Good News with thousands of people and saw many of them invite Jesus Christ to become their personal Lord and Savior.
We fed them. We clothed them. And we encouraged them.
And what we got back was much more than we gave.
"It changed me," said Louisville businessman Brent Hinton. He and his wife Karen went to Guatemala during the spring with 20 other Highview couples to create an safe, indoor playground for children who live in a garbage dump.
Brent said "The poverty is unbelievable. We bought Happy Meals for all the children there. One of them had taken three bites out of his hamburger, and he had been eating that meal for three hours. He wanted to savor every bite because he didn't know when he might get another one."
